Hytale Multiplayer Connection Issues

Updated Jan 16, 2026 7 min read

Can't connect to multiplayer servers or play with friends? This guide covers the most common connection issues and how to fix them. From firewall settings to port forwarding, we'll get you playing with others in no time.

Common Error Messages

"Connection Timed Out" - Server didn't respond. Check if server is online and your firewall settings.
"Failed to Connect" - Wrong IP/port or server is offline. Verify the server address.
"Version Mismatch" - Your game version differs from server. Update your game.
"You are banned" - Contact server admin. This is a server-side ban, not Hytale account issue.

Quick Fixes (Try These First)

1

Check Server Status FIRST STEP 90% success

Make sure the server you're trying to join is online. Check our server list page or the server's Discord for status updates.

2

Verify Your Internet Connection 75% success

Test your internet by loading other websites. Try restarting your router. Hytale requires a stable connection with at least 5 Mbps.

3

Check Firewall Settings 65% success

Windows Firewall or antivirus may block Hytale. Add an exception for HytaleGame.exe in your firewall settings.

Advanced Solutions

1

Use Radmin VPN or Hamachi 80% success

If direct connection fails, try VPN solutions. Install Radmin VPN, create a network, and have friends join. Use the Radmin IP instead of direct IP.

2

Port Forwarding 70% success

Forward UDP port 5520 in your router settings. Log into your router (usually 192.168.1.1), find port forwarding settings, and add a rule for port 5520.

3

Flush DNS Cache 40% success

Open Command Prompt as admin and run: ipconfig /flushdns. Then restart your computer and try again.

4

Reinstall the Game 95% success

If nothing else works, uninstall Hytale completely, delete the game folder, then download and reinstall from hytale.com.
